COP26 31st OCT – 12th NOV 2021 in Glasgow

Prayer for the COP26 climate summit

Loving God, We praise your name with all you have created.

You are present in the whole universe, and in the smallest of creatures.

We acknowledge the responsibilities you have placed upon us as stewards of your creation.

May the Holy Spirit inspire all political leaders at COP26 as they

seek to embrace the changes needed to foster a more sustainable society.

Instil in them the courage and gentleness to implement fairer solutions

for the poorest and most vulnerable, and commit their nations to the care of Our Common Home.

We ask this through Our Lord Jesus Christ your Son.  Amen

We pray that the world leaders will put the needs of marginalised communities around the world, those most affected by         climate change, right at the heart of these climate talks . More info at .

JESUIT MISSIONS: Here is a video by the Rt Hon Gordon Brown on behalf of Jesuit Missions. Mr Brown has kindly recorded this video for Jesuit Missions on the eve of COP26 to share the importance of the conference which will begin in Glasgow on Sunday 31st October.

Jesuit Missions is planning a number of events during the two week period of COP26, including a pilgrimage from Edinburgh to Glasgow, an event at St Aloysius’ Church on Saturday 6th November at 10.00. We will also be joining an estimated 100,000 in the march and rally that is being held in the city that day. Our programme also includes speakers at St Aloysius’ College on Monday 8th November. Jesuit Missions has been given observer status at COP26. Members of our team will be attending over the fortnight to speak out for our common home. We will be joining Jesuits and their lay co-workers from around the world, including representatives from EcoJesuit.

Please keep everyone involved in COP26 in your prayers at this critical moment in human history.
